About Us

Everhomes is a building company led by LBP builder Everett Norris. The company brings together the right people for a particuar job, and if it only requires one builder, you will be blessed with Everett. He has over 9 years experience in the trade, and has branched out beyond basic carpentry to include natural building techniques, traditional timber framing, and knows how to make a building airtight for passive house buildings. The company is located in Christchurch city on the porthills, but will travel if a project take's their interest. Everett works closely with the Architect or designer to improve the construction details before they are submitted for building consent. Everhomes is passionate about making the world a better place. They encourage building smaller footprint houses, efficient floor plans, and lots of insulation! Everhomes prefers to work on houses that have been designed by Architects with knowledge of energy modelling so that the building will not only look good but will perform very well; reducing carbon emissions, and ongoing spending for the people who will live there.

Meet the Team

Everett Norris

LBP Builder Carpenter

Everett has been a licensed builder since 2021. He is passionate about carpentry, plastering, problem solving and how to make buildings more energy efficient. His passion for building started young, helping family friends construct a strawbale house. After travelling Australia to work with strawbale builders, he returned to Hamilton at 20 to begin his apprenticeship. By 22 he had built his own tiny house on wheels, later featured in local papers and on Living Big in a Tiny House. By 25 he was a licensed builder (LBP), having trained with both a high-end home builder and a German master carpenter at Strawhome Hawke’s Bay.

Since moving to Christchurch, Everett and his wife have built a traditional frame barn workshop and strawbale passive house on their Port Hills property, which will serve as both their residence, office, workshop and showhome. Look out for it at Open Christchurch 2026, on TV ! and in the papers.

Aside from work, Everett’s hobbies are simple: building, board games, and hiking — and he would happily build seven days a week if his wife let him. If he had his way, every home would be an energy-efficient passive house.

Elizabeth Guthrey

LBP Architectural Designer

Elizabeth is an Architectural Designer, Energy modeller for buildings and experienced in detailing for natural buildings. Elizabeth is also Everett's wife. She works for Design & Make Architects most of the time, but is keen to work as a Design & Build team when clients are interested in the full package from Everhomes. Now and then Everhomes has worked on buildings designed by Design & Make Architects and they make a great team.

Florian Franzmayr

Builder

Florian is a versatile builder with attention to detaill. He works with Everett from time to time on bigger jobs and also works on his own projects in Christchurch city.

Lucia, Ayun and Adam

Everett takes on an apprentice or two when building a whole house from start to finish. Apprentice is an understatement as many of the people who have worked for Everhomes come with some experience in a particular area of building. Lucia and Ayun had built their own home in Chile using local materials. They are passionate about natural building.
